Keeping with their mission of presenting new music and lifting up the voices of emerging composers the trio will be premiering a work by their pianist\, Jason Mulligan\, as well as a newly commissioned work Ophelia Floats by Austin\, TX based composer Steven Serpa. To close out the program the trio performs excerpts from Ricky Ian Gordon’s monodrama Orpheus & Euridice. \n“The Edge of Oblivion” is a meditation on the human condition in the 21st century. The music on this program explores themes of isolation and loneliness\, of feeling lost and adrift at sea. With this program the Sterling Trio asks you to join them on a journey through music that is hauntingly beautiful\, emotionally complex\, and musically ambitious.
